There has been a spate of non-news items lately about celebrities publicly opening up about their lives like Tatum O’Neil’s bisexuality(I’m dating women now’) and Art Garfunkel’s grousing about the breakup of his relationship with Paul Simon, some 45 years ago (Paul Simon is a ‘jerk’); and how about that poor Bruce Jenner who has become woman?  I call these non-news items because outside the small circle of people personally affected by their behavior– like Jenner’s children–who really cares? ( Can you imagine their confusion if Caitlyn were now to come out of the closet and declare that she’s a lesbian?) Apparently a lot of people do.  There is enough schadenfreude to make these stories compelling to the general public that tends to forget that although celebrities live very different social lives than the rest of us, their inner emotional lives are the same as ours. At the end of the day, we all must wrestle with our  inner demons and attempt to reconcile our own internal conflicts, motivation and behavior.  But to open up,  I, too, derive some pleasure from  forever being  reminded that the laws of the emotional universe apply to everyone, celebrities included.
