When it comes to feelings, there is no right or wrong. Feelings just are. In the new movie, “Inside/Out” the main premise is that all feelings have value and that life is a package deal; you can’t have good feelings unless and until you can accept all feelings, even the bad ones.  When a group member says that don’t know what they’re feeling, they’re not lying. They are telling the truth however, it is my assumption that they have an objection to certain feelings that obstructs their willingness and ability to identify that emotion. In my way of thinking therefore, when it comes to emotions:  “I don’t know means –I don’t want to know”.  So when a group member says that they don’t know what they’re feeling, I might say something paradoxical like:” Well if you knew what you were feeling what would you say?”  Or I might say:” Make it up.  I’m not asking you a factual question”.
